Visual Artist, Cristina Mejías (Jerez de la Frontera, 1986) licensed in Fine Arts by the UEM, NCAD in Dublin and a Master’s degree in Research in Art and Creation by UCM. In 2010 she moves to Berlin with an European scholarship, where she resides for four years. In 2014 she returns to Madrid where she currently lives and works.

Recently her work has been exhibited in places such as The Goma gallery (Madrid), JosédelaFuente Gallery (Santander), MACZUL Museum (Maracaibo, Venezuela), Teatro SAC (Barcelona), Javier Silva Gallery (Valladolid), Santa Inés Gallery (Seville), Fund. Mendoza (Caracas, Venezuela), Ranchito ARCOLisboa Matadero Madrid /Galerias Municipais (Madrid / Lisbon), Artothèque (Bordeaux, France), TEA (Tenerife), LABoral (Gijón), Fund. Cajasol (Seville), Centro Cul- tural de España/AECID (Rosario, Argentina/ Concepción, Chile/Lima, Peru), CAAC (Seville) or CentroCentro (Madrid) among others.

In the last few months she has completed a production residency with an international grant at Tabakalera (San Sebastián) and later at the Centro de Creación Contemporánea de Andalucía C3A, the result of which will form part of a collective exhibition in autumn this year. She will soon be taking up residence in Hangar Lisboa with a residency grant from the Community of Madrid.

Among the prizes and scholarships she has recently obtained we can stand out Generación 2020 de la Casa Encendida (Madrid), residence scholarship in Hangar Lisboa, residence and production scholarship in Tabakalera (San Sebastián), the Iniciar- te award, finalist at the Premi Ciutat de Palma-Casal Solleric, ‘Ranchito ArcoLisboa’ residence and a production scholarship, ‘Correspondencias de Ultramar’ residence and production scholarship in Caracas and Maracaibo AECID/Spanish Embassy in Venezuela, Injuve Creation Award 2017, XIX Call Luis Adelantado, XXVI Plastic Arts Circuits, Joven Complutense award and TheGymProgramme in Rampa space, among others.
